Recent activity in Peer Observation of Teaching

Over the last few months I delivered Peer Observation of Teaching training for teachers in Te Puna Ako, Departments of Languages, and Sport.  The training supports a Unitec pilot project which seeks to introduce Peer Observation of Teaching to teachers, as part of their evaluation toolkit.  Unitec is operationalising an Evaluative Questioning approach to teaching and learning. Peer observation of teaching allow teachers the opportunity to be observed by their peers, and reflect on constructive feedback.

As part of the training I have used our Peer Observation of Teaching resources available on the Teaching and Learning Community site. In addition I have offered specific skill development in Giving and Receiving Constructive Feedback

From my own evaluations distributed to teachers after the workshops, there is good support for the scheme and teachers have found real value in the workshop and support resources.
